Children Are a Gift from God

If children are a gift from God, should we not desire more gifts?

According to Psalms 127:3-5

"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,

The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,

So are the children of one’s youth.

Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;

They shall not be ashamed,

But shall speak with their enemies in the gate."

If this is true, and it is, then why are people not desiring children? Why are people trying not to have as many children as God will allow them to have? Why are people afraid to have children? Why are people not willing to have children? Is it selfishness? Is it a lack of trust? Is it because they have believed a lie? What lie? Who told them that their child could be born deformed? That they cannot afford children? Who said children are a hassle, too much responsibility, and too much work? God's word is accurate. God says children are a blessing. God's word says that He will meet all our needs according to His riches in heaven by Christ Jesus. Children indeed require work and responsibility, but do people desire to be lazy and irresponsible? And what or who is making children be born deformed or become ill? It is not God. God says that He is our healer and that He wishes for us to prosper and be in good health, even as our soul prospers.

I believe that many people are not trying to please God by having children. Most people in America do not consider the fact that God desires most people to marry and have children. Many people have not surrendered entirely to God, so they believe that it is entirely their decision if they marry and have children. And once married, most Americans believe that it is merely their decision how many children they have. Those people think that either God does not care, or they do not care to please Him and trust Him in this area. The problem is not abortion, which many still see as a form of birth control; the real issue is not desiring to give birth.

Thank God there is now an unfeminist movement in America. It is not an anti-feminist movement that has been around for many years, which many see as being against women's rights. An unfeminist is turning her back on feminism. Feminism told women it is more rewarding to have a career and make their own money than to concentrate on being a good mother and homemaker while allowing their husbands to provide for and protect them. I hope this movement spreads deep and broad.

Dear Lord,

Please help our nation to be centered on receiving your gift and blessing of children. Thank you for giving mankind the gift of family. Please help America cultivate a culture that values life for both the young and the old. Amen!!
